CENTILIO WRITE / WORK

The free online Microsoft Word processor, and where Write differs.

Word is the format most organisations exchange, and its web version is free with a Microsoft account. Write is designed for the documents a business drafts from its own records, and it is designed to read and write .docx so the two can live side by side. Write has not shipped; Word has, for decades.

Write has not shipped yet.

Everything on these pages — the screens, the features, the prices — is Centilio Write as designed, not a product you can open today. Write is in the third wave of Centilio tools: there is no app, no beta and no launch date yet, and we would rather show you the whole design and say so than publish a page with three sentences on it. Join the waitlist and you will hear first.

Side by side

Centilio Write and Microsoft Word, honestly.

Word for the web is the Microsoft word processor online; the desktop app is the same family. Facts as of research in 2026, on what each tool is and how it is priced, not on list prices that change. Check the vendor’s page for today’s detail and tell us if we are out of date.

Choose

Which one to choose.

Choose Word if

Your customers, lawyers or partners send and expect .docx files, you need detailed page layout, and you need it today. Word for the web is free with a Microsoft account.

Choose Write if

Most of what you write is drafted from what your business already knows — a deal, a person, a set of numbers — you want one price for the whole business rather than a seat each, and you can wait for wave 3.

Side by side, in practice

Use both, if that is easier.

Write is not trying to replace the file everyone sends.

Keep Word for the files you exchange with outside parties, and use Write for the documents your business drafts from its own records. Write is designed to import .docx with headings, tables and comments, and to export back to .docx or PDF, so a document can move between the two.

The difference shows up before the file exists: in Write the proposal starts from the deal, the figures are checked against their source, and the finished document goes to Sign and is filed in Drive without an attachment in sight.

If you switch, later

What moving from Microsoft Word will take.

  1. Keep the old tool for a while. Write is designed to import .docx, so nothing has to move on day one; start with new documents and bring old ones when you touch them.
  2. Move the templates first. Your proposal, contract and policy templates are where the hours are saved; rebuild those in your brand and the rest follows.
  3. Bring the live documents, not the archive. Documents still being edited or signed come across; finished ones can stay where they are, or be filed in Drive.
  4. Check one document end to end. Draft, edit, send to Sign, file in Drive — once, properly — before the team moves.
Questions

About switching.

Is Word for the web really free?

Microsoft offers a free web version of Word with a Microsoft account, as of research in 2026. Business features sit in Microsoft 365 plans priced per user; check Microsoft’s page for today’s detail.

Can Write open and save Word files?

That is the design. Import a .docx with headings, tables and comments, and export back to .docx or PDF.

Does Write replace Microsoft 365?

No. Write is a word processor, not a suite of email, storage and meetings. It is designed for the documents a business drafts from its own records.

Why pay for Write if Word on the web is free?

You may not need to: Write’s own Free plan is proposed for up to three people. The paid plans are for drafting from your records, your brand on every template and approvals, priced once for the whole business.

Is Write available now?

No. Write is in the third wave of Centilio tools and has no launch date yet. Join the waitlist and you will hear first.

Can I use both?

Yes. Keep Word for the files you exchange with outside parties and use Write for the documents built from your records; .docx moves between them.

Be told when Write opens.

Write is in the third wave, alongside the tools that hold the facts it drafts from. Join the waitlist and you will hear before the announcement — and in the meantime Drive and Sign are yours to use.
